Wanderlands privacy policy

Last updated 2026-11-03

The short version

Solo play stays on your device. Online play is optional: if you use it, we store a display name you choose and your games on our server so you can play with friends.

Wanderlands has no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we never sell or share your information for marketing.

In the Android app, achievements you earn can also be sent to Google Play Games if you are signed in to it. That is optional and handled by Google.

What stays on your device

The game you have in progress, your match history and statistics, your achievement progress, your sound and display preferences, and whether you have finished the tutorial.

This is kept in the app’s local storage. Clearing the app’s data, or uninstalling the app, removes it. In Preferences you can save a backup of your match history as a file (or copy it as text) and restore it later; the backup goes only where you choose to put it.

What online play collects

Only if you open Multiplayer and continue: the display name you type (please do not use your real name), a random account ID and a secret sign-in key that the app keeps on your device (the server stores only a scrambled version of the key), and the games you take part in: who sat at the table, the moves made, the results and the game code.

Leaderboards: when an online game with at least two people finishes, we keep your score and whether you won, with the table size and the expansions used, next to a nickname. The app gives you a made-up nickname that you can change (please do not use your real name). You can switch off “Show me on leaderboards” in Preferences, and then you are not listed.

If you report another player’s name or a leaderboard nickname, we keep the report (the name, the game and your account ID) so we can review it.

We do not ask for your email, phone number, contact list, location or any other personal details.

How online data is used and shared

It is used only to run online games. Other players in your games can see your display name and your moves, and everyone using the leaderboards can see your leaderboard nickname with your scores and wins (never your display name). We do not share it with anyone else, except that the game connection passes through Cloudflare, which carries internet traffic for us and handles ordinary network details such as IP addresses to do so. We use IP addresses in memory only, to limit abuse, and do not store them.

Everything sent between the app and the server is encrypted in transit.

How long we keep it

Until you delete your online account. Deleting it erases your name, sign-in key, leaderboard nickname and leaderboard results. Games still under way continue with an AI explorer called “Former player” in your seat, and games with no other people left are deleted.

Games that nobody touches are cleared away automatically: games still waiting for players after 8 hours, finished games after 30 days, and unfinished games left idle for 90 days.

Deleting your data

In the app: Preferences, then “Delete my online account”. This takes effect straight away. Your solo history stays on your device until you clear it.

Without the app: see the instructions at the deletion page on our website, or email us at the contact address below and we will erase the account.

Google Play Games (Android app only)

The Android app can use Google Play Games. If you are signed in to Google Play Games on your phone, the app sends it which achievements you have earned and how far along you are on the ones that count up (for example the number of wins). Google shows these on your Google Play Games profile and in the Play Store, and handles them under Google’s own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and the Google Play Games terms.

We do not see or store your Google name, email address or Google Play Games player ID, and nothing about Google Play Games goes to our server. The achievements themselves are worked out on your device from your match history. The web version of the game does not use Google Play Games.

It is optional. If you are not signed in, or you decline to create a Google Play Games profile when Google offers, nothing is sent and every achievement still works inside the app. To stop sharing, sign out or manage your profile in the Google Play Games app or your Google account.

Permissions and sharing

The app asks for no special permissions beyond the internet connection used for online play. It uses vibration for feedback and sound for effects.

If you tap Save image, the picture of your journey is handed to your device’s share sheet, where you can save it to your photos or send it on, or (on a computer) saved to your downloads. It goes only where you choose.

Children

Wanderlands is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us a name or other details, contact us and we will delete them.

Changes

If this policy changes, for example when new online features are added, we will update it before the change is released. The date above shows when it last changed.
